Hi, this is Ziyue (Humphrey) Yang. I am a PhD student in Finance at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Before Wharton, I spent two years as a PhD student in Economics at the Australian National University, where Professors John Stachurski and Thomas J. Sargent led me into the field back when I was still an “academic baby.” They were on my panel along with Professor Ronald Stauber, and I am indebted to them well beyond my debt limit.
I was also a research assistant at QuantEcon. Previously, I worked as a research assistant at the ANU Research School of Finance, Actuarial Studies and Statistics (RSFAS) and as a summer intern at Data61, CSIRO, researching statistical learning and the security of generative adversarial models.
I graduated with bachelor's degrees in Data Analytics and in Politics, Philosophy and Economics in 2023.
In my free time, I enjoy hiking (especially when there are kangaroos around) and catching up with the latest tech news. I spend most of my time tweaking programs and learning maths and economic theory with help from John, Tom, and friends.
